MOLD : Resource-Harvesting Single-Family House

Jason Vigneri-Beane <jcvb@splitstudio.com>

Project Statement

This single-family house is driven by a resource-harvesting manifold that continuously differentiates itself in order to channel and collect resources (light and water), informally define the spatial organization of the house, respond tightly to selected programmatic aspects of living, and engage the lot. The "home" essentially takes place amidst this continuous differentiation in a fairly open way. The "inside" and "outside" of the house are simply distinguished by a layer of glass that seals off the gap between the roof and the floor. At the same time, however, that simple glass seal can be buffered by a deployable layer of pneumatic insulation.
