Project Statement

Stripped-Down Villas : Micro-Estates (S*D*V) are part of an on-going project that compact selected aspects of luxuriant living conditions down to a formulation of MICRO-ESTATES.

SDV.11 --- ORGAN_B /// ALIEN EMBED : Landscape System + Domestic Unit + Ecological Augmentation Drones /// The ORGAN_B_ALIEN EMBED is a domestic living unit augmented by modular wetland/aquaculture and environmental data harvesting. The components in this composite system are the living pod, the wetland/aquaculture lobes, the circulatory system, environmental sensors, envelope-embedded display and a collective of data-harvesting drones that also act as cloud-seeders in times of drought. The complex deploys two operative design principles: the surface and the swarm. The architecture and landscape consist of a double-surface that is fused at times (the wetland modules) and separated at other times (the inside-outside of the pod, the circulation). This allows the inside to become the outside and vice-versa and the continuous differentiation of the surfaces and their itinerant identities-in-formation create meaningful yet watertight differences in the complex. The pod is simultaneously alien to and embedded in the synthetic landscape with which it is, in turn, continuous. At the same time, a swarm of data-harvesting/cloud-seeding drones creates a more dispersive and agile interface between building and environment in order to harvest such ecological indicators as air quality, particulate counts, meteorological data, aquatic health and so on.
